I wanted to take some time to break things down with some Q & A so you know exactly what you are getting if you should choose to explore the idea of hiring me as your wedding officiant.

Have I ever officiated a wedding before?

Truth is, full disclosure - no, I haven’t as of yet. I was ordained through American Marriage Ministries in March of 2023.

Why would you want to hire a new officiant?

Everyone, no matter what business a person is in, is in a constant state of learning. Officiants of 30+ years still learn new scripts, techniques, tips, and tricks with each new wedding they perform and beyond. That being said, while I am new to all of this, I promise to pour my entire heart and soul into making sure your ceremony script is built the way you want it, no questions asked! (Well except, of course, “how do you want it done?” 😅) While I do understand that some couples are uncomfortable with the concept of a “newbie” and would want someone with more experience, so no judgment for those that feel this way. However, I also feel that a person cannot gain experience or show how good they can really be if not given the chance to do so.

How does my pricing work?

The good news for the couples who choose to book with me is that you don’t have to come to me, I will come to you! I don’t charge travel fees within the first 50 miles of the Johnson County area. Beyond those 50 miles I do stair steps for travel fees based upon the extra mileage. For instance, if you are local to the Iowa City/Coralville area up to 50 miles out, your cost would be $150. If you are beyond that it would depend on the mileage or travel time and if you would require my services the day before for rehearsal plus the day of the ceremony, etc. We can do a free initial consultation via Zoom or FaceTime to discuss what you are wanting for your ceremony and go over the specifics.

Do I require a deposit?

Yes. I require a non-refundable 50% deposit the day of booking and the other 50% payment is due the day before the ceremony. Why the day before? This keeps the couple from having to take away from the celebration on their special day to figure out payment for the officiant, the new spouses are able to simply enjoy their day stress-free.

What kind of ceremonies will I perform?

Any, all, and in between. If you want a Christian ceremony, I’ve got you covered. Non-religious ceremony? I can do that too. Harry Potter-themed? I’d love to do that! Do you want to include your parents (sounds strange for some but I’ve seen it happen), kids, tributes for those who have passed on, or pets? Go for it! You get my drift.

Am I LGTBQ+ friendly?

Absolutely. Love is love is love. The end. No judgment, just acceptance.

So… are you willing to take a risk and hire me?

You won’t be sorry if you do.

I can still accept bookings for 2023 but they are limited, completely open for 2024 at this time.
